Squiggle While You Wiggle!

We love to Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle at Elton Nursery, it is a fun and engaging way to encourage your child's early writing skills.

What is Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle?

It is an Early Writing Program created by Shonette Bason. Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle uses dance and large movements to help children develop the fine muscles control they need for writing. They will learn a new gross motor movement to a piece of music. They will dance using this movement and use it to make marks, this could be in foam, on paper, in sand etc. They will then use this action to think of letters they can form in this shape. These sessions are great fun but most importantly help your child to be confident mark makers.

Maybe try it at home.....

Shonette Bason is the Mary Poppins of motivation for Early Writing. It will show you how to develop your childs writing in a fun and exciting way! Watch some videos yourself and then turn up the music.

Ask Miss halligan or Mrs Wynn which action we are focussing on and have a ball with it! Search on YouTube for 'Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle' and a wide range will appear.
